Production Manager

We are looking for a Production Manager!

At our Production site based in Isleham, Cambridgeshire we are looking for a diligent, self-motivated team player who can exceed in their duties to help us retain our position as a leading conventional roots supplier in the UK.

You will join us on a fulltime permanent contract.

You will be working 40 hours per week, 08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday.

The Job Role

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Image
    Lead and embed a culture of awareness and adherence to all health and safety measures on site
  • Image
    Lead and embed a culture of ownership regarding quality assurance and customer delivery
  • Image
    Ensure through your teams that the customer specifications are met, and the site is compliant to relevant standards
  • Image
    Use GMP results to trend reoccurring issues and find permanent solutions to improve the overall GMP performance
  • Image
    Ensure Non-conformances are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Image
    Incorporate hygiene checks within production and plan in any priority work with the hygiene team in addition to the normal schedule.

    Take ultimate responsibility for all aspects of labour requirements across the production team.
  • Image
    Drive a culture of performance within each of your department’s functions, ensuring that they have an adequate number of trained individuals to meet the workload and ensure any needs are met through a documented training plan.

    Responsible for any training/disciplinary action within the team in line with HR processes
  • Image
    Ensure adequate controls are in place to deliver core manning of the production, managing attendance and optimum utilisation accordingly.

    Ensure annual objectives are mapped out for your direct reports, measured, evaluated and discussed in line with Company standards via PDR's and 121's and cascaded down to the rest of the team
  • Image
    Work with the Supply chain and forecasting team to agree labour requirements and manage those requirements accordingly (particularly for key periods). This will include working with recruitment agencies and creating a labour strategy

    Empower your team to provide input and suggestions, which lead to continuous improvement and development, promoting a customer first culture
  • Image
    Manage the continuous development of your direct reports and wider team to ensure a succession planning culture
  • Image
    Ensure production targets are met in order to deliver or exceed budget expectations
  • Image
    Create clear succession plans and flexibility within the department
  • Image
    Utilise the expertise of the Engineering manager in order to get the most from the equipment on site, manage capacity and maximise throughput.

    Ensure the departments has clear KPI’s and are conversant with actual performance in relation to targeted performance
  • Image
    Identify and lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement within your department
  • Image
    Ensuring all Process Control information is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Image
    Managing your labour budget within tight, agreed parameters.
  • Image
    Producing and reporting on daily and weekly information that explains any variances to standard including labour, pack out %, giveaway, efficiencies, accidents and positive release failures have an action plan to deal with these variances.

    Develop and coach your production leaders and line leaders
  • Image
    Oversee nightshift production activities when required – making sure daily activities cover off nightshift requirements i.e. additional labour and clean down as much as possible in advance.

    Implement ‘lean manufacturing processes’ which increase efficiencies and levels of productivity
  • Image
    Ensure areas are in clear control through managing presence on the factory floor.
  • Image
    Attend all meetings/briefings as deemed necessary by Divisional General Manager.
  • Image
    Take advantage of relevant training and periodic reviews of performance.
  • Image
    Be proactive in the provision of feedback and the delivery of ideas to develop and improve   solutions relating to your department.
  • Image
    Be fully conversant with Burgess Farm's (Produce World Group) vision, values and behaviour.
  • Image
    Carry out, as required, such other duties as may be necessary to efficiently run the business.

What we are looking for

    5 years experience in a similar role

    Strong management experience in a food production environment
  • Image
    Agency contract management

    Experiencing implementing and managing PDR’s with a strong desire to develop others

    Data Analysis Skills
  • Image
    High level of computer literacy + Microsoft Office Package
  • Image
    Knowledge and experience of using a warehouse management system
  • Image
    Confidence in delivering and briefing information to all levels across the business
  • Image
    Positive and proactive mindset

    Collaborative approach to rectifying mistakes
