Materials Handling Manager

We are looking for a Production Manager!

At our Production site based in Isleham, Cambridgeshire we are looking for a diligent, self-motivated team player who can exceed in their duties to help us retain our position as a leading conventional roots supplier in the UK.

You will join us on a fulltime permanent contract.

The shift pattern will be Monday to Friday, 8:00 – 17:00.

Responsibility

The Job Role

Reporting directly to the Planning and Logistics Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that the movement of materials across our site is handled correctly and those using different types of MHE are properly trained to do so.

The responsibilities of the role include:

    Ensure areas are in clear control through managing presence on the factory floor.
  • Image
    Attend all meetings/briefings as deemed necessary by your line manager.
  • Image
    Take advantage of relevant training and periodic reviews of performance.
  • Image
    Be proactive in the provision of feedback and the delivery of ideas to develop and improve   solutions relating to your department.
  • Image
    Be fully conversant with Burgess Farm's (Produce World Group) vision, values and behaviour.
  • Image
    Carry out, as required, such other duties as may be necessary to efficiently run the business.
  • Image
    Manage the maintenance and repairs of MHE on site.
  • Image

    Responsible for those who operate MHE equipment across the site.

    Control the MHE budget and report on spending.
  • Image
    Provide training support to other sites if required.
  • Image
    Producing and reporting on daily and weekly information that explains any variances to standard including labour, efficiencies and accidents and have an action plan to deal with these variances.
  • Image
    Be fully accountable for providing the correct material to the lines at the correct time, continuously working towards reducing the downtime caused by waiting for materials.
  • Image
    Be accountable for stock accuracy and stock rotation (FIFO) and ensuring stock is moved promptly and therefore only out of the cool chain for the minimum time required.

    Oversee nightshift activities when required – making sure daily activities cover off nightshift requirements i.e. additional labour.
  • Image
    Implement ‘lean manufacturing processes’ which increase efficiencies and levels of productivity.

What we are looking for

    A minimum of 2 years MHE operating and training experience
  • Image
    Ability to negotiate the best deals with suppliers by challenging prices.
  • Image
    Ease of making contacts with vendors and establishing good relationships
  • Image
    Strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Image
    A real team player with a positive attitude to implement change
